The land at Lambakheda was acquired on 31st March 2004. The school building stands at the impressive, green 5.79 acres of land. The school building was inaugurated and blessed by His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Pascal Topno S.J. Archbishop of Bhopal. On 1st July 2005 Rev. Fr. George Vazhakala was appointed as the Pioneer Founder, Manager and Principal from 1st July 2005 to 13th June 2014. Under his leadership the school took big strides to progress.
The beginning of the school is the co-operation between two societies viz. Archdiocese of Bhopal and ASMI Congregation of Bhopal Province. An agreement was drawn between these two societies to establish co-education school to the children of the area of the city to promote social harmony, female literacy and progress.
The school was established with many sublime objectives in mind namely:
On July 1st 2005 school opened its gates for the first batch nursery to K.G. 51 tiny pairs of legs walked into the school campus out of them were 36 boys and 17 girls. Rev. Sr. Saritha Francis and Sr. Manjusha Francis ASMI congregation were the first religious sisters who were working in the school. The sisters resided in a rented house in nearby colony and were coming to the school. Along with two lady staff they held the tiny hands of these future citizens ushering them inside Holy Cross Co-Ed School premises under the able guidance of Fr. George Vazhakala, the Principal of the school.
From the year 2005 to 2010 the school has made steady progress from 51students to 500 students and staff from 4 to 21. Under the leadership of Fr. George and the collaboration of ASMI sisters the school worked hard to bring up the institution by maintaining the campus, constructing the school building, children’s park and well furnished class rooms.
As the years passed by, the principal put forward the idea of the school going in further echelons and initiated the progress for the same. The school broadened its horizon. Hence His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Leo Cornelio Archbishop of Bhopal invited the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation,North Province, U.P. to render their service by catering to the needs of the people in the field of education, after which the Archbishop introduced the sisters to Fr. George and explained him that they would be collaborating with him in the education and pastoral activities of Holy Cross mission, after the agreement by the Archbishop with the authority of Ursuline Franciscan Congregation. On 1st July 2013, Srs. Fatima Dias, Renuka and Roma joined as the teaching staff along with the ASMI Congregation sisters Sr. Fatima Francis and Sr. Anima Francis and other members of the teaching faculty.
By the year 2014 the long cherished dream of a full infrastructure of the school building having well furnished class rooms up to class X, Science lab, Computer lab, Library, school administrative block and extension of the play ground became a happy reality. This nascent dream took a concrete form under the capable leadership and continuous hard effort of Fr. George Vazhakala.
On 22nd May 2014 Fr. George Vazhakala managed to secure affiliation to CBSE New Delhi. He ushered in a new era in the Holy Cross Co- Ed School history. During his tenure the school made huge progress along with the dedicated staff he took great challenge to take the school to new heights in academic performance of the students, extra co- curricular activities and over all development and moulding of the students.
On 13th June 2014 the Holy Cross family bid adieu to its Pioneer founder, Manager and Principal Rev. Fr. George Vazhakala. During his tenure of nine years he contributed and toiled hard for the betterment and growth of the school and garnered a lot of respect and appreciation from the students, teachers and parents.
Most Rev. Leo Cornelio Archbishop of Bhopal after one year of experience of teaching of the sisters made an agreement with the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation authority Sr. Alice Pinto, Provincial Superior and requested her that the sisters would take the responsibility of the management of the school.
On 13th June 2014 Sr. Fatima Dias (Ursuline Franciscan Congregation of North province, UP) officially took over the charge of Holy Cross Co- Ed School in a formal function. Rev. Fr. Mathew V.C on behalf of the Archdiocese of Bhopal handed over the charge to new principal in the presence of Rev. Fr. Richard Cauto the Education Consultator and Fr. Saiju Kolarikkal the parish priest of Holy Cross Church, Lambakheda and all the Holy Cross staff members.
At present the school is nurtured by the two congregations UFS and ASMI along with the other teaching faculty and looking forward to reach the school to greater heights by being a ray of hope and a beacon of light to all the students for the all round development of their growth to become good leaders of the nation.
